HEI worked with Emory to expand and modernize the OWR 3086 Research Lab, with the retrofit of an existing Cold Room Freezer, allowing for additional lab research space needed by the Department. Integration of a new exhaust air system into an antiquated building system, included overcoming numerous vibration and noise issues. HEI worked within a tight budget constraint, but with the implementation of value engineering ideas and cost saving methods of construction, the project was pushed to fruition. By retrofitting and refinishing existing casework, relocated from other areas in the building, HEI stayed with the client’s budget. Because of the close collaboration between the GC, subcontractors and client, along with ingenuity, the project was a success.
